When Kat announced she was going to tackle this glorious rich mythological world, I was beyond excited. Valroy is very much a villain in this romance, but that is truly part of his charm. But as we all know, that's not how things usually turn out! Stuck in Fae, Abigail must escape Valroy's maze or well, literally die trying. There is nothing about the main male character that is good or heroic and yet you still hope he will win the main female character. Your still hope for a happily ever after. This story had enough hints of that movie to grant my wish but also create a new world so much better than any movie could ever be. I loved this book so much. I love everything by this author so knew this story would be great but I wasn't expecting to be so captivated by it. This book is a thing of utter perfection. The author has created a world dangerously beautiful along with complex characters you can't help but love. Reading a magical book like this one has the power to get you out of a book slump, a depressed mindset, or escape the harsh realities of the world for a little bit. From twisted carnivals to mad magicians & everything in between. If you’re tired of recycled paranormal romance tropes then I highly recommend giving anything by Kingsley a try! I'm a total sucker for anything villain and Fae related, and this has it in spades. Love the dynamic between Abigail and Valroy. She is such a spitfire, and he's just mouthwatering. Kathryn's work dances on the knife edge of too dark for me and in almost every case - manages to convince me that I really enjoyed it. In this case I felt she had got it just right.
